Sunday Morning Worship

(10:30 am – 12:00 pm)

Worshipping Christ

At Berean, our desire is to exalt Jesus Christ and to display His matchless worship. Nowhere is that more pronounced than in the morning service. We strive to honor Him by growing in our trust, love, and obedience to Him. Three areas where that is fostered in the morning service is in prayer, praise, and the preaching.

Prayer

One of the things you will notice at Berean on Sunday mornings is the priority of prayer. Through the pastoral prayer, we come together in submission to God, bringing our requests before Him, worshipping Him in His majesty, confessing sin, and preparing our hearts to hear His Word proclaimed to us.

Praise

An important part of the worship service is our intentional praise to God. That takes place both in the corporate reading of God’s Word as well as in the singing of hymns that span church history. Our goal is to press biblical truth into our hearts where we are driven to meditate on those truths both in church and throughout the week. In this way, proper praise brings a greater conformity to Christ, rather than serving as experiential end to itself.

Preaching

The core of the worship comes in the form of the preaching of God’s Word. This is by design; it is in the preaching of Scripture that we see Christ’s glory, and it is only as we behold Christ’s glory that we are changed to better display Christ’s glory (2 Cor 3:18). Because of that, our commitment is to hearing the unchanging truth of God’s Word, rather than the shifting mores of popular culture.

The sermon is typically 45 minutes, and our practice is to systematically preach through a book of the Bible, exposing the congregation to the full breadth of what God has revealed about Himself. Whether you are a new believer or someone who has been walking with the Lord for years, you will be challenged through the preaching that you receive here.
